lest we forget....

This week has me thinking of family.

::Getting together on the weekend to celebrate my wee bruders birthday.

::Getting my head around changes in our little family that will bring excitement and stress{good stress}

::Thinking about families of those at war, in current times and in the past.

::Explaining to the kids why we pause and buy a poppy, we talk about family that have gone before us and those family members who didn't come home.

::Explaining why we hold our breath when we farewell a dear brother and pray for his safe return.

::Trying to explain why we have too, and why we are proud and angry and sad.

So the humble poppy which goes brilliantly with my glasses and my shoes also represents family, on both sides of the line, and which never fails to make me cry:)

love fi xoxo

We will be honoring our veterans tomorrow, Nov 11; I wish we had the tradition of buying/wearing a flower---it seems to make it more personal. Both of my nephews serves in Iraq and my son in Afganistan (sp) and Iraq. They are all home in the US right now, thank God. My prayers and thoughts are with you.

I knew there was another up side to wearing a poppy, Nice post too. My DH was in the Army for 22 years and I held my breath many many times as he was in Infantry.
Lest we forget.

Beautiful post Miss Fii
Since living up here I now have respect and love for what our defence forces do for this country, whether I agree with the government policy or not.
